LOGAN MITCHELL EARNS FIRST CAREER BCRA WIN WITH TOM MANNING MEMORIAL TRIUMPH
PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA (August 8, 2026) – Santa Cruz’ Logan Mitchell broke through for the biggest victory of his career, with the 2025 Western Midget Racing champion claiming the Tom Manning Memorial on Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway. The combined WMR/BCRA Super Series event saw Mitchell top a field of both full Midgets and stock-powered EcoTec Midgets on the one-third mile dirt track. Photo by Matt Sublett
Randi Pankratz led Quick Change Liquid Energy qualifying before San Jose’s Anthony Bruno and Auburn’s Cody Gray split the eight-lap heat races.
Both drivers played a role in the 25-lap feature. Gray drove into the lead by lap three and charged ahead of the pack with Bruno in tow. Bruno escaped from the race on lap 14 with a mechanical issue.
Gray – a two-time EcoTec powered WMR winner this year – looked poised to take his first win while driving a full Midget before he too submitted to an issue on lap 15.
Mitchell inherited the lead and dominated the final 10 circuits, building up a three second advantage over Pankratz at the finish. Santa Cruz’ Nathan Moore finished a Super Series career-best in third as well. Mitchell’s drive from fifth also earned him the BR Motorsports / West Evans Motorsports Hard Charger.
