LATE MODEL CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLES RESUME THIS SATURDAY AT MADERA SPEEDWAY

MADERA, CALIFORNIA (August 20, 2025) – The championship battles at Madera Speedway are coming into focus heading into round seven on Saturday night. Main events begin at 7pm under the lights with a covered grandstand for race fans to enjoy. Adult tickets are just $20, seniors and military are $15, youth ages 6-12 are $10 and kids five and under are free. All tickets will be sold at the track ticket booth.

Race fans can “Join” www.YouTube.com/ShortTrackTV for $19.99 per month for a members-only live stream as well. The races will be televised at a later date on RACER Network.

San Jose’s Jay Juleson has accumulated a strong 70 point lead in the standings for the Mission Pro Late Models following a runner-up finish in the Summer SpeedFest in July. Jason Aguirre has advanced into second in the standings with four finishes within the top-six this season. Will Martyn of Coarsegold scored a career-best fourth at the SpeedFest to move into third in the standings. Veteran Rick Thompson of Fresno is fourth followed by three-time 2025 winner Matt Erickson of La Grange. Manny Gonzales, Jr., Trevor Schlundt, two-time winner Kyle Keller, Mike Hensley, and Shaun Reynolds make up the balance of the top-ten drivers.

The Mission Pro Late Models race in an 80-lap feature, split across a 50-lap opening segment followed by a 30-lap run to the finish.

Race fans have been treated to a tight championship fight in the 2025 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series for drivers ages 10-16 years old. Oregon’s James Hamlin has a narrow five-point cushion after six rounds of action. Hamlin will slide into a new machine fielded by Derek Thorn Racing and Mike Hensley for the final three races of the season. Eli Black of Santa Rosa is in second place with two victories. Skyler Schoppe of Clovis is only eight points out of the lead with one win and four total podium finishes.

Washington’s Hunter Gates has settled into fourth in the standings followed by Bristol Borneman and Byron Borneman. Saturday’s 70-lap race includes a 40-lap opening segment, a break for adjustments and RACER Network interviews, and 30-lap conclusion to determine the winner.

Pro Sportsman enjoyed its largest field in the young division’s history last Saturday with 11 participants but a familiar winner. Points leader Joseph Holiday prevailed, increasing his lead in the standings. Holiday paces Steve Schermerhorn by 32 markers heading into Saturday’s 30-lap feature. Brian Taylor, Kaden Toland, and Joseh Reichmuth are in pursuit.

The INEX Legends have seen a wide variety of drivers and winners throughout the season, leaving the top-five all mathematically within the hunt for the title. Bakersfield’s Logan Chambers has three wins to lead Colton Page, Lillie Cook, Eddie Garone, and Konner Karston. 30-laps of Legends action is scheduled this weekend. INEX Bandoleros are also on Saturday’s card.

Saturday pit gates open at 3pm due to hot forecasted temperatures with the drivers meeting at 4pm. Practice begins at 4:30pm. Qualifying hits the track at 5:40pm followed by heat races. Opening ceremonies are at approx. 7pm with all main events to follow.
