KELLER AND LONGMAN STAR IN MADERA ACTION DURING SUMMER SPEEDFEST

MADERA, CALIFORNIA (July 19, 2025) – Madera’s Kyle Keller won his second consecutive Mission Pro Late Model feature at Madera Speedway on Saturday night, dominating the Madera Summer SpeedFest 80-lap event. Jeff Longman of Lehi, Utah won his first-career Madera feature in a thrilling Mission Silver & Gold Modified Series 75-lap affair as well. Both races, along with action for the 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series and NCMA Sprint Car Series, were filmed for future RACER Network broadcasts. Photo by Pure Pixel Visuals

Keller started eighth for the Pro Late Model feature. The caution flew before the race even started when McKenna Hasse-Scott of Des Moines, Iowa spun from third coming to green. On the next attempt, outside polesitter Shaun Reynolds drove past Bristol Borneman to grab the lead. Keller marched through the field, grabbing second from 2024 Madera Late Model champion Trevor Schlundt by just the seventh lap.

Keller then drove past Renyolds to lead lap 13. 2025 points leader Jay Juleson of San Jose advanced from the tenth starting position, challenging Reynolds for second on lap 25. Fresno’s Rick Thompson slowed with mechanical problems for a caution on lap 31. Juleson utilized the restart to drive around the outside of Reynolds for second. Renyolds then backtracked on the outside line before the lap 50 break. Keller led Juleson, Will Martyn of Coarsegold, 15-year-old Hayden Stepps of Oakdale and Reynolds into the break.

The final 30-lap race to the finish was led comfortably by Keller. A tremendous duel unfolded for fourth between Martyn and Schlundt. Hasse spun in turn one in front of the battle, causing a close call and setting up a three-lap shootout to the finish. Keller darted away while Juleson defended second from Reynolds. The top-three each received a new set of Hoosier 970 Tires. Martyn and Schlundt rounded out the top-five.

The Mission Silver & Gold Modified Series had just one yellow flag but plenty of action in its 75-lap feature with Lehi, Utah’s Jeff Longman scoring his first career victory worth $2,000. Former Madera champion Scott Winters of Tracy hounded Longman’s rear bumper for the first two-thirds of the event with the Jacks brothers of Las Vegas in pursuit closely behind them.

Winters’ bid ended on lap 53 with a rear end failure that brought out the caution flag. On the restart, opening round winner Sam Jacks got around his brother Kyle and pursued Longman. Longman persevered in the narrow and hard-fought event followed by Sam Jacks and Kyle Jacks. Windsor’s Sammy Nuno won a battle with Brian Collins of Camino for fourth as well.

Santa Rosa’s Eli Black became the first repeat winner of the 2025 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series for drivers ages 10-16 years old. The 70-lap feature presented by Allied Packaging saw the points battle tighten up considerably as well.

Bristol Borneman drew the pole in both the Pro and Jr. races, leading the young drivers to green. Black used the outside to roll into the lead by the second lap of the event. Rev. Ron Spencer Classic winner Kellen Keller then took over second. Black was able to accumulate a sizeable lead over Keller while several cars lined up to challenge Borneman for third. Byron Borneman spun on lap 15 for the race’s first caution flag. Skyler Schoppe of Clovis used the following restart to nab second from Keller. Black led Schoppe, Keller, Hayden Stepps, and points leader James Hamlin of Oregon City, Oregon into the lap 40 break for adjustments and TV interviews.

Black cruised over the final 30 laps of the race, crossing the line with a three second advantage. Keller retook second place on the restart over Schoppe. Hamlin settled for fourth followed by Stepps.

2025 West Coast Stock Car/Motorsports Hall of Fame heritage inductee Tony Hunt of Lincoln won the NCMA Sprint Car 30-lap feature, his second win of the year at Madera Speedway. Hunt paced action from the pole after a three car invert. Debris on lap nine brought out a caution flag. Under yellow, second place runner and Rev. Ron Spencer Classic winner Shauna Hogg of Fair Oaks slowed with a broken rear axle.  Her misfortune thrust fast-time qualifier Eric Humphries into second place.

Hunt led the rest of the way in a narrow duel among the top four drivers. Humphries fended off several passing attempts from Napa’s David Goodwill to run second. Goodwill survived two attempts at an outside maneuver by Austin Carter to finish third. Carter finished fourth followed by Tony Amador.

Joseph Holiday won the battle of the Josephs on Saturday night, topping Joseph Reichmuth for the 30-lap Pro Sportsman win. Holiday had multiple unsuccessful tries at the lead position. Corey Gibson then suffered a large engine failure and fire on the front stretch on lap 14, allowing Holiday to cool down his tires and take another shot at the lead.

Holiday seized the lead on the restart and led the rest of the feature. Steve Schermerhorn drove into second place and brought along Brennen Mankin in his debut race to finish third. Reichmuth finished fourth followed by Brian Taylor.

Beau Paddock won the INEX Bandolero feature over Chole LaMatina and Roy Plaffy.
