BRODY RUBIO PARKS IT AT SUMMER SIZZLER WITH FIRST DELTA NON WING WIN
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (June 20, 2026) – Former Delta Speedway Jr. Sprint champion Brody Rubio of Manteca won arguably the biggest checkered flag of his young career on Friday night, winning the Non-Wing Micro Sprint feature during the opening night of the Summer Sizzler in Stockton. It feels really good. I mean, I led almost the whole race too so it feels really good,” Rubio said. “Pretty amazing (to hold off Nikko Panella and Jeffrey Pahule). I saw (Pahule) pull into the infield there so it was a relief there and I knew he wasn’t going to be on my tail there.”
Stockton’s Ty Carlson led the 23 entries in qualifying before Pahule, Austin Stone, and Rubio were the heat race winners.
The feature was a long and arduous one as drivers clawed for positions. Rubio started outside of Pahule for the start but immediately slid into the lead. Pahule fell back to fourth quickly. Pahule drove back into second before a red flag stoppage on lap 13. The duo engaged in a spirited battle on the ensuing restart before action was again halted by a crash.
Pahule and defending champion Panella collided in turn four for the second spot with seven to go, ending Pahule’s race. Rubio led the final six laps for the victory followed by Panella, Arizona’s Quinn Thurein, TK O’Brien, and Stone.
Madera’s Logan Trevino won the 25-lap feature for the winged Super 600 class. Owen Larson was the top qualifier but Trevino won the ten lap heat race. The action was halted at the start when May winner Alex Panella was involved in an early incident in turn three.
Owen Larson led the action before Trevino drove underneath of him to lead lap five. Trevino led the rest of the way for the coveted win followed by a hard-charging Nikko Panella from ninth, Larson, incoming points leader Raio Salmon, and Drake Carter.
Cole Frerichs of Wheatland won the A-Class feature after 25-laps of feature racing. Quinn Thurein was the fastest qualifier. Keaton Martella, Brycen Roush, and Wade Boertje won the heat races. Karstyn Avila won the B-Feature. Frerichs topped TK O’Brien, Thurein, Dash Runkerken, and Jace Thurein at the finish.
Restricted also enjoyed a first-time Delta winner in his division with Arizona’s Easten Cambensy winning the 25-lap race from the pole position. Tyce Domingos topped time trials on the extra large 29 car field. Maya Mauldin of Rancho Murieta, Nixen Gabbard, and Andrew Williams claimed the heat race action. Briggs Davis won the B-Feature.
Cambensy fended off a late challenge from Miles Boertje, with Cambensy using the bottom while Boertje rolled the top. Cambensy scored victory over Boertje, Mauldin, Jaxson Evett, and Maycie Brooks.
Huxcen Roush of Riverdale came out on top in the Jr. Sprints, defeating one of the winningest drivers in Lee Uzzell. Audrey Larson was third followed by Santino Gonella, and Lucas Fenn. Roush, Larson, and Jayden Carey were heat race victors in Jr. Sprints racing action.
The Summer Sizzler concludes Saturday night with a complete points race for all five divisions competing. Drivers meeting is set for 4:30pm.
