MATTIX SALMON MEMORIAL HONORS DELTA SPEEDWAY RACER WITH LARGEST NON WING PURSE IN TRACK HISTORY
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (May 20, 2026) – Stockton’s Delta Speedway honors a young racer lost too soon on Friday May 29 and Saturday May 30 in the inaugural Mattix Salmon Memorial. The race pays tribute to one of Delta Speedway’s most dedicated racing families over the last decade, offering a sizeable $10,555 to win Non-Wing feature purse on Saturday night. Teams from all over the West Coast are expected for the coveted inaugural event. They will be joined by Non-Wing Restricted and Non-Wing Jr. Sprints races in the non-points event. Pre-registration covers two full days of racing and includes the two-day driver pit pass. Pit passes for additional crew are $30 per day. Registration is open on MyRacePass and is $250 for Non-Wing and $150 for the Restricted and Jr. Sprints.
Both nights are a two-heat race and main event format. Drivers will be seeded into the heat races via pill draw and earn passing points. The second heat race will be a complete inversion of the first. There will be a C-Main and a B-Main if necessary. The top-five finishers in Friday’s mains lock into the inside of the first five rows of Saturday’s finale. The top-five in points after Saturday’s heat races lock in for the outside of the first five rows.
Friday’s Non-Wing winner will earn a $500 bonus. Saturday’s A-Features will be lucrative with $150 paid to start in Jr. Sprints and Restricted and $250 to start the Non-Wing feature. The race leader on lap five on Saturday in Non-Wing earns a $500 bonus. The fastest driver on lap five earns $555. The Non-Wing Hard Charger pays $1100 while Jr. Sprints and Restricted each pay $400 to the Hard Charger.
Each class will have a free race suit given away on Saturday night. The first five non-transfers from the Non-Wing and Restricted B-Mains will earn cash as well, along with a hard luck award in each class on Saturday night.
Total awards will be over $50,000 for the two-nights of action at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. Event merchandise will also be available at the event.
