MATTIX SALMON WINS NON-WING THRILLER DURING ROUND SEVEN AT DELTA SPEEDWAY

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (August 17, 2025) – Eighth-starting Mattix Salmon charged to victory in the 30-lap Non-Wing nightcap in Saturday’s Micro Sprint action at Delta Speedway in Stockton. Salmon’s victory is his second of the season and was part of a five division night of racing at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.
Points leader Nikko Panella of Stockton topped qualifying before Salmon and Brentwood’s Isabel Barnes won the heat races.
Barnes led the field to green after the inversion while Panella charged from sixth to second within the first two laps of competition. Panella challenged Barnes through a series of restarts before his car came to a stop in turn three with mechanical woes for a caution on lap 12.
Salmon marched through the field and approached Barnes for the lead. He tried the high side on lap 16 to no avail. He then crossed to the bottom for a slider attempt in turn three on lap 18 but was unable to complete the pass. The exciting battle continued with Salmon on the bottom and Barnes on the top. Salmon completed a sliding pass in turn two to take the lead on lap 25. Mattix Salmon led the final circuits for the victory followed by Austin Stone, Barnes, Brody Rubio, and Vito Celli.
Stockton’s Alex Panella earned his fifth consecutive top-two finish in Super 600 competition by winning yet again in the winged wars. Points leader Nikko Panella won qualifying and Alex won the heat race, lining the brothers up on the front row for the high-speed 30-lap contest. Alex Panella wasted little time, driving around the outside of Nikko immediately at the start. Alex Panella led wire-to-wire followed by Nikko Panella. Raio Salmon won a family battle with Mattix Salmon for third with Vito Celli finishing fifth.
Stock A-Class points leader Landon Henry of Sacramento completed a clean sweep of the competition, taking qualifying, winning his heat race, then snaring his second feature win of the season. Henry led all 25-laps. TK O’Brien finished second followed by round six winner Kyle Fernandez. Jason Maples and Cole Frerichs were the balance of the top-five. Kaiden Gowen won the other A-Class heat race.
Manteca’s Briggs Davis was also a sweeper in the Restricted action, advancing his points lead to a triple digit margin with his third victory of 2025. Davis also won his heat race and led qualifying. Davis paced all 25-laps in the main event. Haven Sherman finished second followed by Dean Skrifvars, David Anderson, and Bryson Sozinho.
Nixon Soiland of Suisun City dominated the Jr. Sprints 20-lap feature despite a surprise at the finish. Soiland bounced off a slower car and bounced across the finish line, remarkable keeping his No. 5N machine on all fours. Easton Wright finished second followed by Lucas Fenn, Samantha Dozier, and Santino Gonella. Soiland and Dozier won the heat races for the youngest racers at Delta Speedway.
The Dual at Delta is up next in Stockton with complete points races on both August 30 and August 31.
