ALEX PANELLA RETURNS TO DELTA SPEEDWAY VICTORY LANE DURING SUMMER SIZZLER AND KING OF CALIFORNIA ACTION

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (June 21, 2025) – Stockton’s Alex Panella continued the strong performances from the Panella family at Delta Speedway by winning Friday night’s Super 600 feature to kickoff the Summer Sizzler weekend at the 1/7th mile dirt track. Panella’s victory was his first since August of 2022 and part of an 87-car, five division night of Micro Sprint action at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. Photo by Bob Messer

Friday’s action also paid points for the King of California series.

“It’s a new race car to me and been working with it. Tonight it was on my side. I kept my head clean and well here we are,” Panella said. “(The confidence) is way better than it was. Big confidence boost. Hopefully tomorrow we can come and double up. I think we can go forward from here.”

Panella fended off his points leading brother and 2022 champion Nikko Panella over the 30-lap feature. Fresno’s Mattix Salmon, the incoming second in points, finished third followed by Bakersfield’s Jett Yantis and fast-time qualifier Isabel Barnes of Brentwood. Fresno’s Raio Salmon and Stockton’s Vito Celli split the heat races.

Yantis leads the points in both Super 600 and Non-Wing for the King of California and the championship leader delivered with a wingless triumph from fourth on the grid. Yantis marched into the lead by lap six and never relinquished it. Mattix Salmon ended a solid night in second followed by 2024 champion Jeffrey Pahule of Brentwood, Quinn Thurein of Tucson, Ariz., and 2021 Jr. Sprints champion Brody Rubio of Manteca. Yantis also topped qualifying over the 20 entries in attendance. Celli and Salmon won the ten-lap heat races.

Dalton Parreira returned to Delta Speedway with the 2018 track Jr. Sprints champion leading wire-to-wire for Friday’s A-Class feature win. Jace Thurein gave his family a pair of top-five finishes with a runner-up performance. Delta points leader Landon Henry, three-time Delta Speedway champion Lucas Mauldin of Rancho Murieta, and Kyle Fernandez of Tracy rounded out the top-five finishers. Parreira claimed quick time. Thurein, Brycen Roush, and Niko Simoes were the heat race victors.

Braxon Vasconcellos won his first career Delta Speedway Restricted trophy, winning Friday’s 25-lap feature. Aubri Huckleberry made it a Visalia resident one-two finish. Tyce Dominigos of Tulare, Maya Mauldin of Rancho Murieta, and 2024 Hoosier Tire California Speedweek champion Mackcen Roush of Riverdale were the balance of the top-five. Vasconcellos also led qualifying while Domingos and Roush won the heat races.

Easton Wright of Martinez won his second Delta Speedway Jr. Sprints event of the season in a 20-lap feature. Lucas Fenn settled for second place followed by Huxcen Roush, Santino Gonella, and Kendyl Leal. Wright, Roush, and Leal shared a piece of the four heat races.

All five divisions return Saturday night to conclude the Summer Sizzler, with the action again paying both Delta Speedway and King of California points.
