BOBBY HOGGE TOPS IMCA ALL-STAR MODIFIEDS AT OCEAN SPEEDWAY

WATSONVILLE, CALIFORNIA (May 31, 2025) – Salinas’ Bobby Hogge topped the second round of the IMCA Modified All-Star Challenge during Friday’s Grad Night at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville. Hogge was one of five winners at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds dirt track with Danny Wagner, Ryan Hart, Eric Weisler, and Amaya Flower also claiming wins. Photo by Top Dawg Photos
Troy Foulger of Oakley led the opening lap of the 25-lap IMCA Modified feature. Robert Marsh of Salinas mounted a challenge on the high side to seize the lead on lap three. Foulger slid Marsh in turn four and the duo ran side-by-side on lap five. Hogge edged into the battling, looking to the inside of Foulger as well. The furious battling was halted when Todd Hermosillo spun in turn four. Marsh pitted with a flat left front tire as well. Marsh and Cody Burke each suffered damage for an additional caution on lap seven.
Hogge pounced on the restart, diving inside to lead lap eight over Foulger. Hogge accumulated a 4.2 second advantage that was nullified by Kyle Bryan stopping in turn four on lap 23. Hogge persevered over a green-white-checked finish to nab the victory followed by Pettit, Foulger, Jonathan Hagio, and Bryan.
Baypoint’s Danny Wagner led the final 16 laps of the 20-lap IMCA Sport Mod feature for a dominating win. Bo Crebs of Yreka led the first four circuits. Crebs then spun from the second position on lap 15. Wagner drove away from the pack for the checkered flag. Watsonville’s Jeff Mead won a battle with San Jose’s Rob Gallaher for second. DJ Keldsen and 11th-starting Jason Ryan, Jr. rounded out the top-five finishers.
“Flyin” Ryan Hart of Dos Palos earned his first Hobby Stock win of the season, claiming the 20-lap feature. Defending champion Joe Gallaher and Bakersfield’s Matt Ehler had hard contact in turn one that brought out the first caution. Ehler was uninjured. Bobby Gallaher led the field into lapped traffic with Hart in pursuit. Hart moved inside of Gallaher and took control of the feature on lap nine.
Hart topped Adriane Frost, Terry Campion, Lilly Mead and Norm Ayers at the finish.
Eric Weisler of Campbell led all 20-laps for the South Bay Dwarf Car victory. San Jose’s Mark Biscardi chased Weisler through lapped traffic but was unable to close in. Justin Bingman of Castroville finished third followed by Pete Piantanida and Dan Zuger.
Watsonville’s Amaya Flower was credited with her first Four Bangers victory of the season after Friday’s 15-lap feature. Anthony Flores of Santa Cruz crossed the stripe first for what would be his first triumph. But Flores was disqualified in post-race inspection. Flowers’ spirited drive inherited the win, followed by Jonathan Welborn, Steve Roach, Kate Beardsley, and Bill Beardsley.
Ocean Speedway in Watsonville returns on Friday June 6 with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, Four Bangers and the Joe Brechel Memorial race for the South Bay Dwarf Cars.
