OCTOBER CLASSIC TRADITION CONTINUES IN BAKERSFIELD AT KERN RACEWAY ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (October 22, 2024) – The October Classic motorsports tradition continues in Bakersfield this Friday and Saturday nights at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway and Kern Raceway Dirt Track. NARC 410 Sprint Cars kick off the excitement on Friday night with their only 2024 appearance of 900hp dirt slinging machines. They will be joined by Western Midget Racing in the final weekend of their Triple Crown Series plus the So-Cal Dwarf Car Series in the Halloween Hustle.
Grandstand gates open at 5pm on Friday night at the one-third mile clay oval with cars on track by 5:30pm. Opening ceremonies are slated for approx. 7pm. Tickets are just $25 for adults, $10 for juniors (ages 6-12), and kids 5 and under are FREE! Tickets are available at the gate or at www.KernRaceway.com and www.TheFOAT.com Asphalt pit pass holders for Friday practice can purchase Dirt Track tickets for just $15 as well.
Friday’s action will be the ninth visit by the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series to Kern and kicks off the penultimate weekend for the series. 2024 NARC championship points leader Cole Macedo of Lemoore has made three career starts at Kern, with a best-finish of fourth in 2023. He leads former Kern race winner Justin Sanders by 11-points heading into Friday’s 30-lap feature. Bud Kaeding, Caeden Steele, and Dylan Bloomfield round out the top-five in the standings.
Clovis’ Corey Day prevailed last October and parlayed his NARC success into a huge 2024 campaign in the national High Limit Racing division. Roseville resident Shane Golobic has ruled Kern Dirt Track with three NARC victories plus a 360 Kings of Thunder win. Dominic Scelzi of Fresno has two NARC scores plus a Kings of Thunder win as well. Other Kern NARC winners have included Cory Eliason, now a regular on the High Limit Racing series
The 410 Sprint Cars will participate in wheel pack, hot laps, qualifying, heat races, dash racing, and a 30-lap feature.
Western Midget Racing makes its inaugural Kern Dirt appearance during its championship weekend and Triple Crown finale weekend. The stock production Midget series is led by 2023 champion Bryant Bell of Oakley with a 16-point advantage. Bakersfield Speedway race winner Logan Mitchell of Santa Cruz is second in the standings followed by San Jose’s Anthony Bruno, Santa Clarita’s Adam Weisberg, and Delano’s Terry Nichols. Nichols also has a win at Bakersfield Speedway this season and looks for his first Kern Dirt win in one of his home races. WMR will participate in a 20-lap feature.
So-Cal Dwarf Cars will race in a two-race weekend challenge with Barona Speedway for the Halloween Hustle. Bakersfield’s JD Brown is the series points leader followed by Daniel Peters of Camarillo, Nick Velasquez of Camarillo, Joey Bohard of Paso Robles, and Tommy Velasquez. Dwarf Cars competed at Kern in April for the Dwarf Car nationals with over 80 entries racing. A 20-lap feature is on tap.
Excitement continues on Saturday night on the asphalt half-mile with ARCA Menards Series West, SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour, Pro Late Models, and Modifieds, plus Boat Race mayhem and post-race fireworks. Tickets for both nights of action are available at the race gates or at www.KernRaceway.com
Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway Dirt Track is located at 13500 Raceway Blvd, at the intersection of Enos Ln and Interstate 5 just west of Bakersfield.
