USAC/CRA SPRINT CARS MAKE SECOND KERN STOP WITH VERMEER AND FERREIRA CLASSIC SATURDAY NIGHT
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (August 28, 2024) – Avanti Windows & Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars make their second 2024 stop at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway Dirt Track on Saturday night August 31. A full field of methanol burning 410 cubic inch Sprint Cars will compete in the inaugural Bob Vermeer & Narcie Ferreira Classic, with Mini Stocks also competing. Photo by P1 Racing Images
Adult tickets are $25 while kids 6-12 are just $10. Kids five and under are free. Hot laps are scheduled for approx. 5:30pm followed by time trials for the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars. Opening ceremonies will be at approx. 7pm. The night concludes with the 30-lap feature for the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars.

The USAC/CRA competed in the Golden Empire Clash on June 8th with R.J. Johnson of Laveen, Ariz. taking quick-time, then charging from sixth on the grid to win the feature over an 18-car field. Yorba Linda’s Logan Williams steered the No. 44 car to second place with A.J. Bender of San Diego rounding out the podium.
Tommy Malcolm in the Napier-owned No. 5x leads the championship on the strength of a summer stretch of three consecutive wins. Malcom has only finished lower than seventh once in 12 starts in the 2024 season. Johnson is just eight points behind Malcolm in the standings. Bender has one victory on the year and ranks third followed by Logan and Austin Williams.
Other USAC/CRA feature winners this season include two wins for Matt Mitchell and single victories for Gapser, Charles Davis, Jr., Braden Chiaramonte, and Kevin Thomas, Jr.
The Vermeer and Ferriera Classic for Sprint Cars features 10-lap heat races and a 30-lap feature.
Mini Stock racers from across the valley will compete in a 20-lap feature. at the one-third mile dirt track for the first time in over a year. They will race for $300 to win, $200 for second, and $100 for third with a minimum of 10 participants. The event utilizes West Coast Sport Compact rules. Multiple 2024 race winning drivers are expecting to participate in the special non-points event.
