LOVENBURG RACING RECAP: TY LOVENBURG EARNS BACK TO BACK SECOND PLACE FINISHES

VISALIA, CALIFORNIA (June 15, 2020) – Lovenburg Racing debuted their new look this weekend on both Ty Lovenburg’s Jr. Sprint and Cash Lovenburg’s Restricted Micro Sprint, competing at Keller Auto Speedway Plaza Park and Lemoore Raceway. The weekend was a successful one for Ty Lovenburg, as he scored a pair of second place finishes.

Both events marked the return to racing action for the Lovenburg’s home tracks. Keller Auto Speedway had not hosted action since the first week of March while Lemoore Raceway had been dark since November. Both events were held without fans in the grandstands but the racers put on a show nonetheless.

Ty Lovenburg finished third in his heat race in the The Dump Guys #01T then lined up third for the 20-lap main event. He took over the second position on lap four which he never relinquished all the way to the checkered flag. Cash Lovenburg advanced forward to finish second in his heat race in Restricted aboard the #21 Source to Source entry. He went on to finish ninth in the 25-lap main event.

Saturday’s return to Lemoore Raceway brought a fresh enthusiasm for the entire Micro Sprint industry, after a successful Cal Cup closed the 2019 season at the speedway. 72 entries packed the pits including eight Jr. Sprints and 13 Restricted 600s.

Like on Friday night, Cash Lovenburg had the Big Boyz Garage #21 on the move in his heat race. Lovenburg drove from sixth starting position into a third place finish. Lovenburg lined up 12th in the feature and immediately moved forward. Lovenburg found himself in ninth by the second lap of the 30-lap contest, then took over eighth on lap eight and crossed the checkered flag from that position.

Driving the Tulare Ag Products entry, Ty Lovenburg timed in second quickest in the Jr. Sprint division, then finished second in the heat race. The Jr. Sprints raced for 20-laps with Lovenburg starting third. After briefly drifting back to fourth, he took over third on lap three and grabbed second on lap seven. Lovenburg saw the checkered flag from the second position for his second consecutive runner-up effort.

Lovenburg Racing will continue on June 19th and 20th with the Summer Sizzler at Delta Speedway before gearing up for three nights of racing in four days during the inaugural West Coast COVID Cup On June 24-27 at Dixon, Plaza Park, and Lemoore.
