WIN SEVEN IN 2020 FOR ASHTON TORGERSON WITH VICTORY AT ADOBE MOUNTAIN

Medford, Ore. (September 22, 2020) – Medford’s Ashton Torgerson continued his outstanding run in the NOW600 Cactus Region, taking his seventh Micro Sprint victory of 2020 on Saturday night at Adobe Mountain Speedway in Glendale, Ariz. The 14-year-old driver has won at Adobe Mountain in each of the last three weeks, both with the wing and without, propelling himself to a 35-point advantage over brother Austin in the championship standings.

17-year-old Austin Torgerson took advantage of his pill draw to nab quick time over the 18 car Super 600 field, while Ashton qualified earlier and had to settle for third quickest.

Austin led all eight laps of the first heat race of the night while Ashton had a commanding win in the second heat for the win.

In the feature, both young drivers tried to keep the elbow tucked in and drive smoothly during the 20-lap race. Ashton advanced up to second position early then chased down the lead. Austin was a victim in a crash on the front stretch, ending his feature with front end damage on lap 13.

On the restart, Ashton roared into the lead and drove ahead for more than a three second lead at the finish. He ran the best lap of the feature on lap 18 as he never relented in his aim for the win.

The win gives Ashton Torgerson in his #02 Ten-J Chassis seven total victories this season including four in the state of Arizona alone. He will look to build off a best finish of second at Lemoore in 2020 when he returns to Lemoore on Friday night, before competing at Delta Speedway in Stockton, Calif. on Saturday night.

For Austin Torgerson, his Adams Performance-powered #88 charged to a sweep of Non-Wing competition in late July at Dixon and Delta Speedways. He will look to duplicate that success this weekend in the Lemoore and Delta weekend.
