MADERA WINNER DYLAN ZAMPA GRABS ATTENTION OF RACING INDUSTRY

MADERA, CALIFORNIA (March 11, 2019) – With the MAVTV cameras rolling, Dylan Zampa put the West Coast stock car racing world on notice by winning his debut in the Nut Up Pro Late Model Series on Saturday night. The 15 year-old has attracted national attention, outdueling his older brother Logan for the $5,000 win.

The Napa High School freshman won a marketing partnership with McCallister Precision Marketing as part of a contingency program from his 2018 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model campaign. Zampa finished runner-up in that championship before advancing into the Madera Pro Late Models this season, one of the largest and most competitive Pro Late Model divisions in the country.

This morning he appeared on the Speed51.com Morning Bullring live to talk about the win and his racing career.

“It was life changing to win at Madera,” Zampa told Bob Dillner of Speed51.com “Kenny Shepherd has put so much work into getting the (Nut Up) series out there. On the final restart, (Logan) picked the outside of me and we raced side-by-side for 10, 15 laps. He made a mistake going into turn three and coming out of turn four he drove really high.”

“I’ve been racing for nine or ten years and I’m super devoted. It’s the only thing I want to do. I work on the race car almost every day of the week. It’s very special. I was super excited and ready to take on the challenge with the big guys. It was very emotional for me and my dad. We were both speechless.”

Zampa joins the growing list of drivers who have shown next level talent during the first four years of the Jr. Late Model program. The series for drivers ages 10-16 years old debuted in 2016.

“We’re so proud of the success from our Jr. drivers. This is what we envisioned with this training program,” Madera promoter Kenny Shepherd said. “Dylan looks like the fourth in line already from this program that has what it takes to compete on a national level.”

Among those who have competed in the Jr. Late Model program is Hailie Deegan, the only female winner in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West. Jesse Love, winner of both the 2017 and 2018 Jr. Late Model championship, will compete in a variety of series in 2019 including the POWRI Midgets for Keith Kunz Motorsports. He will also be racing in the SRL Southwest Tour, Winged Sprint Cars, and the MAVTV-televised Madera BCRA Midgets on pavement. 2018 Nut Up Pro Late Model Rooke of the Year Adam Lemke competes for JR Motorsports in the CARS Tour this year as well.

Zampa’s 2019 Nut Up Pro Late Model efforts continue with eight more races. The series competes again on April 6th with an 80 lap feature. Zampa will also test for Lee Faulk Racing in April. Pro Late Model competition continues into October with the $10,000 to win Short Track Shootout on October 5th.
