THIRD KING OF CA VISIT TO DELTA SPEEDWAY ON TAP THIS SATURDAY

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (July 9, 2018) – For the third time this season, Delta Speedway in Stockton will host the King of California series as part of its Financial Center Credit Union championship Micro races. Saturday’s action at the 1/7th mile dirt oval for Super 600, Non Wing, Restricted, and Jr. Sprints is the sixth points race for the $1000 championships.

Raio Salmon led a pair of drivers that swept the Summer Sizzler races on June 15th and 16th to take over the Super 600 points lead in the process. Salmon also added a seventh place finish in the California Speedweek round at Delta in June that was not a points race. Salmon leads Stockton’s Nikko Panella by 26 points while Alex Panella, 2014 Super 600 champion Travis Labat of Fairfield, and 2015 Restricted champion Caden Sarale of Stockton round out the top-five. Castro Valley’s Jake Andreotti, the 2017 champ, skipped the Sizzler en route to a victory during the High Banks Hustle prelim in Illinois but is expected to return from eighth in the order.

Valley Springs’ Dan Mognaga, a two-time Delta Speedway champion, swept the Sizzler for Non Wing. Non Wing is Delta’s largest and most competitive division. Double-duty racer Sarale anchors the points despite no victories. Tyler Smith has won two Delta points races along with the Speedweek victory and his third Speedweek championship and runs second in the order. Smith also leads the King of California. Blake McGourty, Madera Ranchos’ Dalton Hill, and Mognaga make up the top-five. Both Super 600 and Non Wing will stage 30 lap features on Saturday and pay a $500 to win purse.

Restricted is wide open in 2018 with 2017 champion Garth Kasiner not returning to California to defend his crown. Two-time winner Caden Stoll has emerged with the championship lead with a 25 lap feature on tap. Caeden Steele has two wins himself and trails Stoll by 26 markers. Devon Courtnier, California Speedweek champion Dylan Bloomfield of Discovery Bay, and Ashlyn Rodriguez round out the top-five.

Jr. Sprints has been a back-and-forth duel with Dalton Parreira’s two wins moving him to the top of the order. Austin Wood ranks second in the division for the track’s youngest drivers while leading King of California. Jett Barnes’ two wins have moved him to third in the points followed by Caleb Debem of Prunedale and TK O’Brien. Their main event on Saturday is 20 laps.

Pit gates open at 1 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. drivers meeting. Hot laps, qualifying, and racing action follow.

Pit passes are just $20 with no membership required. Grandstand tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12, seniors 55+ and military, with kids 5 and under free!

Race fans are invited to come early and stay late for great Royce Farms BBQ at the track concession stand in turn four.
