SECOND RACE OF DELTA SPEEDWAY PRESENTED BY FCCU CHAMPIONSHIP ON SATURDAY

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (May 1, 2018) – The second race of the 2018 Delta Speedway presented by Financial Center Credit Union championship season is this Saturday night with  $500 to win guaranteed for both the Super 600 and Non Wing divisions, plus $300 to win Restricted and $200 to win Jr. Sprints.  The first non-transfer from the B Main will receive a voucher towards a free race entry as well.

The 1/7th mile dirt oval at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds opened the year with a bang in April with a record-breaking 129 entries.

Delta Speedway offers $1000 to each of its four champions and those battles continue this weekend.  Pit passes are just $20 with no membership required.  Ben Worth of Coalinga won the opener for the Super 600 division ahead of Arizona’s Colton Hardy and Concord’s Joey Ancona.  Stockton’s Alex Panella was the highest finishing of the drivers expected to run for the championship, in fourth, ahead of 2017 Delta Speedway champion Jake Andreotti of Castro Valley.

The Non Wing division averaged over 30 cars a race in 2017 and in 2018 opened with over 50 entrants.  When it was all said and done, a familiar face was in victory lane with USAC West Coast Sprint Car stand out Tristan Guardino in victory lane.  Two-time Speedweek champion Tyler “TJ” Smith was second with Mitchel Moles third.

Both Super 600 and Non Wing race for 30 laps on Saturday.

Restricted has switched to an A-Class sized wing for their 2018 series for drivers ages 10-18 years old.  Hanford’s Caden Stoll picked up his first Delta Speedway win while 2017 series runner-up Caeden Steele was second and 2017 third in points Corey Day was third in a familiar podium.  Former Jr. Sprint champion Dylan Bloomfield had one of his best races to finish fourth.  A 25 lap feature is on tap this weekend.

Speaking of Junior Sprints, young Jett Barnes scored his first win ahead of veterans Dalton Parreira and Caleb Debem of Prunedale.  The youngest drivers at Delta run dual heat races followed by a 20 lap main event.

Pit gates open at 1 p.m. with the drivers meeting at 4:30 p.m. and hot laps to follow. Pit passes are just $20 with no membership required. Grandstand tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12, seniors 55+ and military, with kids 5 and under free!
